Painting Cats

I love cats! My friends and family already know this, but now everyone who reads this (and I hope I get lots of readers) will know it. Frankly, I've never understood anyone who thinks cats are mean, weird, loners, etc. Even my parents' cats Charlie and Priscilla had their sweeter moments. However, Charlie and Priscilla aside, most cats are friendly and simply want to be loved. A recent study (can't remember who did it) showed that a stray cat usually preferred human company to food. Of course, I think it might depend on how hungry that stray is--but I know that my cats love being near me. In fact, my cat Sammy likes to sleep so close to my face that I have to push his fur out of the way to take a breath.

As for painting, they are the perfect subjects. Big almond eyes and gorgeous fur--what's not to like? So needless to say, I've painted my cats a lot and I think I'm finally getting the hang of handling the fur. For those just starting out painting cats, I recommend round brushes.

I entered my latest Sammy painting in the Boldbrush contest, so if you want to vote, follow the link below.
